The story behind Highlander Floggers

My wife and I have been part of the BDSM lifestyle for more years than we care to remember. Over this time we have used many commercially made types of floggers, canes and crops both for the pleasure and pain of our slaves and submissives. Many of the toys broke soon after buying them which left us feeling very unsatisfied at the poor quality workmanship. This created the motivation for me to return to making high quality toys and so Highlander Floggers was born.

The work I create is based on history; my Celtic ancestors were mostly armorers. So not only is this a personal passion of mine but a family tradition of sorts as well. The techniques I use were passed down through the generations from my forefathers. Yet as all things change with time, I have made modern adaptations to these techniques that once created weapons of war. Only now they are weapons of pleasure and erotic pain instead.

While trying to improve on my designs, I researched again into how the medieval weapons were created. The falls on these floggers, flails and cats were continued down from a wrap on the handle, which was then tightly braided over. The laces from the braiding were then fixed into place, adding to the number of falls in a natural way. This is the basis of what makes my work pass the test of time and use.

The core elements to my designs are all the same. Quality materials and quality craftsmanship equal quality toys. Each item is hand made from start to finish and therefore are unique and one of a kind. My work is not simple wrapping of leather around a core; every piece is hand crafted from the cutting to the braiding to the finishing and creates a sturdy item that will last, feel great in your hand and look beautiful.

Since I am the last of my line creating these works of art, l also have been committed to passing on this tradition to another generation. Kiana is my most current student and you will find her work within this website along with my own.

I am instilling in my students the same pride and passion I have as well as giving them the tools to create and design their own work. I am very proud of the work they are doing and glad that this art will continue on.
