What is a Cane?
Traditionally, canes come in various forms from the usual bamboo all the way to birch switches right off the tree. This form of punishment has been around for thousands of years. Caning as punishment started with the Chinese over 5000 years ago then moved across Asia to Europe during the mid 1500s. These canes came in various lengths from just 2' long (Baton type) all the way up to 10'.
Within BDSM most of these canes that are used for pleasure are usually made out of Rattan or softened flexible bamboo. The thicknesses also vary depending on whether they are for punishment or for pleasure.
Most of the canes l make are a mixture of (Imported) Rattan and softened Pseudosasa Japonica bamboo which is common here in New Zealand. Below you will see my slant on these beautiful canes. Many have a wrap of braided leather over their entire length which makes them extremely strong and gives a unique sensation to the receiver, plus gives the user a far better and more comfortable grip.
While we have a few ready made canes in stock from time to time, most canes are made to order. See below for examples of some previous custom cane work.

Previous Custom Made Canes
SC002 : The Katana Executive Japanese Style Sword CaneThis leather bound cane has been created in the style of a traditional Japanese sword. In order to create the thickness needed, 2 full canes are supplemented by a third, which has been split and sectioned together to form an oval shaped length. All 70cm of the “blade” is then braided over in such a way as to create what looks like a serrated edge. The handle, which is 30cm in length, has been braided with various coloured silks in a traditional Japanese style as well. A solid bamboo tang separates the handle from the blade. Two black silk Turks heads are on either side of the handle, and a leather cap added to the end of the blade to keep it in top condition. As an erotic weapon this cane is superb. It allows for various sensations, as the blade provides two very different thicknesses to choose from. Even just a tap from has quite a bit of impact behind it – no need for much power to really cause pain with this |
SC001 : The Daikatana Executive Japanese Style Sword CaneThis was the first attempt at the Japanese sword style leather bound canes. It is comprised of simply 2 canes within the leather, so there is the ability to use a single-cane width for impact or double width. The handle, Turks head and tang are all chocolate kangaroo leather along with the standard herringbone braid all along the blade. The total length is 83 cm, with a 23 cm handle. The tip is angled, making for a rather nasty surprise if hit with it! A bamboo leather covered scabbard accompanies this fine cane-sword for the utmost protection. Who wouldn’t look menacing with this strung over their shoulder, the handle poking out behind their head? |
BC007 : The Sergeant Major A simple yet delicious leather covered cane. This has been bound with 3mm black cowhide bringing the circumference to a whopping 53mm. The thickness of the leather also means that the patterning of the braid can be left behind on skin, from just redness to welting to bruising dependent on the speed of impact. The handle has been built up to a circumference of 75mm – much more comfortable to hold for long periods of time. The handle has also been accented with red silk, and black silk Turks heads are on either side of the handle. The tip of the cane has a light leather slapper which stings mightily! |
RC001 : The Signature This was Kiana’s personal rattan cane for some time but it was bare. She decided it needed something extra and put a chocolate leather handle on it. In doing so, she came up with what will be her signature braid style – a mix of standard diamond and double and triple herringbone to create a rather unique look. This is still one of her personal favourite canes to be used on her – only now it’s even better. |
