Can you make me an item in a specific colour?

Feel free to contact us to find out if what colours of leather we currently have in stock. It is possible to get specific colours depending on what our suppliers have on offer.

I can't find exactly what I want ready made on your website!

Really? That is not problem at all - head over to our Custom Designs page and contact us using the form at the bottom of the page. We are happy to work with you to create exactly what you desire.

What type of leather is best?

One type of leather is not necessarily better than any other. Choosing which leather would suit you best personally will depend on what you want your item to achieve.

Kangaroo: This is currently the type of leather we have most available to us. It is thin yet very tough and durable. It is suited to stingers, cats and short whips. It can be made into a flogger that will thud, but it will always have a slight sting in the impact.

Sheepskin or suede: Both of these leather types are very soft and sometimes a bit furry as well. They are very well suited to sensual items and thuddy impacts.

Cowhide: This leather is most often very heavy and thick. We will most often make thuddy floggers out of this type as well as cuffs.

Calfskin: Very often in the tanning process this leather becomes rather stiff and is thin. Therefore it is perfect for making stinging floggers and small whips.

Deerskin: This leather is soft and incredibly tough. Although fairly expensive in some parts of the world, it is excellent for sensual and light stinger floggers.

Bison: Even though this leather is very heavy it is also very soft. This is beautiful to work with and is excellent for thuddy type floggers.

Pigskin: Another very thin leather and although not as tough as kangaroo or deerskin it is a good leather for the stinger variety of floggers.

Item Descriptions:

FL####: This is simply our item number for the specific flogger. Quote this when you would like to inquire about a specific piece.

Leather: Sheepskin, kangaroo, cowhide...this is the type of leather the flogger is made of.

Wrist strap: Our wrist straps are circular lariat braids. The length mentioned here is how long the loop is - the amount of space you have to fit your hand through. Most wrist straps can be used as a weapon of their own and can really sting! The longer the loop, the more room for both your hand and for swinging the strap itself!

Handle, circumference: This is the circumference of the handle itself. Standard handles range from 82mm around to 94mm. Obviously, the smaller your hand the smaller circumference you want to have a comfortable fit while you swing.

Handle, beveled/unbeveled: Unbeveled is the natural state of braiding on a handle. They feel a bit rougher to the touch and stand proud (aside from when using sheepskin, as the leather is so soft on its own). When we bevel the leather, the handle feels much smoother because the individual laces of the braiding fit closer together than when unbeveled.

Handle, Turks heads: Turks heads are the knots at the top and bottom of the handle itself. These can be done in silk cord or leather and in many, many colour options. "Bulbed" means that the knot carries over the top of the handle core, causing a rounded look to the knot. When a bottom turks head is bulbed, it will bring all the falls closer together in a tighter configuration. "Straight" turks heads are simply that; they do not carry over and appear to be straight.

Handle, design: Diamond and herringbone are the two most common types of braiding we use on our floggers. Diamond can look like a checkerboard but herringbone looks a bit more delicate. This is mostly due to the width of the laces being braided; 10mm is typical for diamond braids but herringbone most often uses 5mm. By using these two braid types in various ways, we can come up with zig zag patterns, spirals, crosses, and many other variations.

Falls: Generally, the more falls a flogger has the "thuddier" the impact, but this is not always so! Similarly, the thinner the falls (5mm as opposed to 10mm, say) the stingier it will be. The length determines how intimate a flogging may be - how close you have to be to your subject to hit them. Longer falls can be used at higher speeds to create more of an impact.
